SET FREE CHURCH

In September of 1992, Jesus’ Hands Food and clothing ministry of Bryant Street Baptist Church. Yucaipa affiliated with Set Free with the permission of its founder, Pastor Phil Aguilar. We soon were blessed out by Bryant St. Set Free Church Yucaipa had a humble beginning in a little storefront building on Yucaipa Blvd. In May of 1993, Pastor Willie Dalgity and his wife Marsha held their first worship service in that building. This was a step of faith as they left their home church, with a small group of brothers and sisters to take Jesus to the streets and the drug culture of Yucaipa and the surrounding area.

No money was available for salaries, so we continued at our respective jobs to make ends meet. A year later I gave up my business and jumped into full time 24/7 ministry. Most of those reached were poor and many struggled with problems of drug and alcohol abuse and ruined families that are often associated with such.

We believed and still believe that there is a forgotten mission field right here in America, it's called our back yard. So we knew that Set Free Church Yucaipa was the very spot where God's love could meet the most desperate of human needs. Realizing the limited impact that any one church could have in as large of a geographical area as the Inland Empire, we began to plant churches in other needy areas of the Inland Empire, our first being in San Bernardino, CA in March of 1996. We trained our pastors through our pastor's school and sent them out with small groups of workers from our congregation. We started a replication of the work we had begun in Yucaipa. There are now over 20 daughter churches. Set Free Yucaipa also sponsors our missionaries to India, Pastor Stan, and Sharon Persinger. This mission and our church plants have seen a demonstration of the far-reaching power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

February 16, 2003, we opened our new facility on Calimesa Blvd, an 18,000 sq ft. building on 3 1/2 acres situated on the I-10 interstate. What incredible exposure! We remodeled the interior and have transformed the former State Farm Insurance offices into a very cool worship center that can seat over 500. We have state of the art nursery and toddler rooms, and a Kidz Zone for elementary age youngsters. Sundays we are averaging over 200 people in attendance at our services.

Set Free Yucaipa is in the top 100 baptisms nationally (SBC), top 10 in the state of California, and #1 in baptisms for many years in our association. (IEBA) We are reaching our community in a greater way than ever before.

We proudly celebrate our 27th anniversary this year. Through the years over 15,000 people have gone through our ranches, discipleship program and many other lives were touched by what God is doing here. Today we minister to over 1,000 people per year through our discipleship ranches and residential discipleship homes. Presently, we have a men’s and women’s Ranch in Lake Elsinore, CA as well as Phelan, CA ministering to and making disciples of Jesus. We average over 100 at the ranches and over 70 in our discipleship homes in Yucaipa.

Five years ago, we began a focused church outreach to the motorcycle community with the launching of Biker Tabernacle here in Yucaipa. Since then we have added three additional Biker Tabernacles one in Lake Elsinore, CA, Needles, CA and Mariposa, CA. In the last five years, we have started a church in Los Angeles, CA, Banning, CA, Montclair, CA, Victorville, CA, Desert Center, CA Kearny AZ, and soon Fontana/Bloomington, CA.

 

In summary, the Lord has blessed Set Free Church and helped us in seeing the multitudes here and elsewhere turn to Jesus Christ for salvation. We are asking Him for the workers needed for the waiting harvest, and all the resources needed to see His name glorified through the whole earth.
